Fit for the Future

Chlor-Chemicals, one of Europe's major chlor-alkali producers and a global leader in chlorine derivatives, is sending out confident messages to employees, customers and the local community about its future as a long-term profitable business.

This week, regional guests attended an event at Chlor-Chemicals' headquarters in Runcorn as part of the business' drive to communicate its vision for the future.

Representatives from the local community, councils, government and businesses heard first hand of Chlor-Chemicals' strategy to 'Double in a Decade' by growing the business over the next ten years through doubling its size, efficiency, productivity, turnover and safety, health and environmental performance.

Adrian Bromley, managing director, commented: 'We are proud of our position as a leading manufacturer of chemicals which contribute so much to today's improving lifestyle; that we will build on our successes and grow our position in the long term. The support by local people and organisations together with the commitment of our workforce will be the key to our success."

Guests were given a tour of the business' manufacturing operations in Runcorn, including a visit to the £50 million environmental improvement plant, evidence of the company's ongoing investment and commitment to improving its environmental performance.

Also on the programme was a visit to one of the largest chlorine cell rooms in Europe which enables Chlor-Chemicals to convert the raw materials of brine and electricity into more than 1,700 tonnes of chlorine each day for use in the manufacture of products as diverse as antiseptics to adhesives and PVC to pharmaceuticals.
