Local School Received Cash Boost

Cuddington County Primary School has received a cash boost to its school grounds development programme thanks to a donation from ICI Chlor-Chemicals.

The school received £3,000 from Chlor-Chemicals as part of a government backed scheme designed to encourage organisations to develop environmental improvement projects within their communities.

Ruth Laidlow, head teacher, commented: "The development programme is an important project within the school. Our main aim is to enhance play areas by reducing the amount of concrete and making them more child friendly, we have already created a quiet garden and outdoor classroom."

The money donated by Chlor-Chemicals will be used to create a pond area on an existing school field. John Sanders, Chlor-Chemicals community relations officer, said, "This project is an excellent example of how local people can enhance their own environment. We were delighted to help the school in this excellent project."

The school has its own Eco Committee comprising of representatives from each year group. The committee have recently commissioned a local artist to create a mural on the wall of a mobile classroom.
