ICI and INEOS Conclude Deal on Purchase of Chlor-ChemicalsThe sale, by ICI of its Chlor-Chemicals business to INEOS, was completed during the evening of January 9.ICI has been pursuing a strategy to restructure its business over some years - moving away from bulk to speciality chemicals - and this deal completes that process. Calum MacLean, chief executive of INEOS Chlor, said: "INEOS Group's strategy has been to expand organically, and by acquisition, in the bulk chemical sector in Europe. "The company has a clear focus and an enviable track-record of buying companies from blue-chip organisations like ICI and making them once again profitable and successful."
