New INEOS Site Community Forum

INEOS, new owners of the former ICI site at Runcorn, are to create a new INEOS Site Community Forum that aims to provide the best possible service to its local community. ICI has already confirmed that its community forum will cease, following its withdrawal from manufacturing in the area.

The new forum is evidence of the companies' commitment to the industry-wide Responsible Care principle of community engagement. Roy Faragher, Manufacturing Manager, INEOS Chlor Limited, said:

"An important element of the proposed new forum is to encourage representation of the whole community through a democratic process for the election of community representatives. This is aimed at creating a strong and accountable forum that represents all sections of the community.

"We will also be encouraging and equipping members to become active in the administration of the forum and the onward cascade of both community and company communications," he said.

These plans have been shared with Halton Borough Council who have agreed to be represented. Invitations to join the forum will also be made to the emergency services, an environmental group and pupil and teacher representatives from local schools. The local media will be invited to report on the meetings.
