INEOS Chlor Joins Business Mentoring Scheme

Three pupils from the Grange School in Runcorn are getting their very own mentors for a year thanks to a scheme involving INEOS Chlor and Halton Business Education Partnership.

The mentors, who are employees of INEOS Chlor, will be on hand to offer the pupils guidance and support on a range of life skills; the idea being to encourage them to develop greater self esteem and confidence.

Andy Story, Darren Spruce and Eric Burke, who all work at INEOS Chlor's Runcorn Site, have volunteered to support the Grange, building on existing links between the company and the school.

Andy said: "This is a great scheme that encourages kids to prepare for their adult and working lives. We're on hand to act as mentors, but it is the pupils who will decide what they want to talk about, whether it be school work and career options or even their taste in music."

Halton Business Education Partnership provides the mentors with training and supports them through the year-long programme.

INEOS Chlor already supports the Grange School by helping out with its Annual Industry Day and providing staff to take part in mock job interviews.
