INEOS CHLOR SECURES A CHLOR-ALKALI PROJECT WITH EQUA-CHLOR IN THE USA

INEOS Chlor and EQUA-CHLOR have started work on an 80,000 Te per year chlor-alkali plant at Longview, Washington (USA).

The plant utilises INEOS Chlor's membrane electrolyser technology and is being engineered by Universal Dynamics America Corporation. Groundbreaking took place on 9 November 2004, with the plant due for completion at the end of 2005.

INEOS Chlor is providing a total service package that includes on-site training, commissioning and full technical support for the life of the electrolysers.

Timothy E. Bistolas, President of EQUA-CHLOR, comments: "We are excited about our new chlor-alkali project and look forward to a close working relationship with INEOS Chlor. This is a significant project that will bring much needed capacity to the Western United States and help meet the growing chemical demand in the region."

INEOS Chlor is a leading chlor-alkali and chlorine derivatives producer and its technology licensing business has now licensed its chlor-alkali technology in more than 45 plants worldwide.
