INEOS CHLOR WORKING WITH LOCAL SCHOOLS TO PROVIDE WORK EXPERIENCE OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTSINEOS Chlor has continued to strengthen its links with local schools and the Halton Education Business Partnership this year by providing work experience placements for students. The company is working closely with Halton Education Business Partnership (part of Halton Borough Council's Education & Social Inclusion directorate) to match the skills and aspirations of local students and has been actively involved in this scheme for many years. The scheme provides the company with the opportunity to interact with local children by providing them with a way to experience the world of work. Barbara Gorry, Vicki Clubley and Dave Farrow, are just some of the INEOS Chlor staff who have provided placements in their work area this year. The placements on offer ranged from Laboratory Assistant to Emergency Services Operator. The students are encouraged to gain hands-on experience of these roles in a safe and supervised environment. David Farrow, Emergency Services Supervisor said: "It's personally rewarding to help a young person to decide their future career path in life. By providing this opportunity I believe we provide the student with real hands-on experience of a particular job and this helps them to reach a decision on which career they want to pursue." Nick Padley, 15, who recently spent 2 weeks with INEOS Chlor's Emergency Services Team said: "I enjoyed my 2 weeks working with the Emergency Services section and found the various tasks that they carry out very interesting. I was made very welcome by everybody in the department and found the whole experience very rewarding." INEOS Chlor has provided 8 work experience placements so far this year and will continue its ongoing support of this scheme in 2005.
