INEOS Chlor Lends a Helping Hand to the Inland Waterways Runcorn Festival RallyLocal chemical firm INEOS Chlor has given a helping hand to the Inland Waterways Association Runcorn Campaign Festival this year by providing a £150 grant towards the running of the event. This event, which was free to the public, was held on 26th and 27th June and was focussed on community involvement with lots of ‘hands on’ activities for adults and children alike. The festival was promoted in local schools to encourage young people in the area to get involved in the conservation and appreciate the heritage of the waterways at an early stage through the WOW (Waterways for Youth) scheme. Mike Sumner representative for the Inland Waterways Association Chester and District Branch said “This event brings real benefits to the people of Runcorn by providing a community event that is fun and brings activities for the old and young alike. The event enables the local community to learn about the importance of the local waterways and the enhancement projects that are ongoing in a relaxed atmosphere.” Janet Ward, community relations manager said: “We were only too pleased to support this rally as this type of event builds on the community spirit that is so important in the Runcorn area. The waterways are an important part of the history and the future of Runcorn and INEOS Chlor is proud to be involved.” INEOS Chlor has an ongoing charitable support and sponsorship programme aimed at supporting local groups and charities in Halton. The company also funds a Green Action Grant Scheme, which provides money to local groups to improve their local environment. Grants of up to £1,000 are available to qualifying projects.
