LOCAL CHEMICAL COMPANIES HELP SCHOOL TO EXPERIENCE THE ARTS

Staff and pupils at Manor House Primary School have been experiencing the Arts through their arts week, thanks to the help of INEOS Chlor and INEOS Vinyls. The theme of the week was "Come to the Circus".

Throughout the week pupils have been taking part in a variety of workshops including magic performances, circus skills, samba rhythms, Caribbean drumming and puppetry.

During the last year the pupils have been fundraising in order to pay for the week long arts programme. The school choir has been busking and also hosted a charity concert, whilst Year 4 pupils approached local businesses and organisations for help.

Naomi Anstice who organised the events said: "We are extremely grateful to all the local organisations that have chosen to support us financially, by donating raffle prizes and with their time. In particular I would like to thank our major sponsors INEOS Chlor and INEOS Vinyls, Frodsham Town Council and the local Rotary and Round Table Groups. Without their support these workshops could not have taken place."

Val Cotterill, Headteacher, is delighted with the experiences that the school has been able to offer the children: "This week has been the exciting conclusion to our academic year, following our recent production of 'Annie', and a chance to celebrate the renewal of our Gold Arts Mark, awarded from the Arts Council in recognition of our commitment to the Arts in education."

Says Janet Ward, INEOS Chlor's Community Relations Manager: "It is obvious to see from the children's reaction that the different activities have been both fun and productive in broadening their appreciation of the Arts. It's fantastic that we can support local schools to provide this sort of activity."
