LOCAL CHEMICAL COMPANIES SUPPORT SCIENTISTS OF THE FUTUREScience minded students at Helsby High School got a chance to talk to industry leaders EVC and INEOS Chlor at their recent careers convention. The chemical companies joined more than 70 organisations from industry, commerce and education, providing careers advice and guidance to the students. Comments Janet Ward, responsible for the Companies' education liaison programme: "We were delighted to be able to support Helsby High School with this event as their commitment to science underpins the education of young people who we hope will be the scientists of the future." INEOS Chlor also recently hosted a visit of A/S students from Helsby High, as part of a long running Engineering Education Scheme, and they were treated to a behind the scenes peek at the Runcorn chemical plant. Since 2002 INEOS Chlor has provided more than 40 work experience placements for local school children in Cheshire and Merseyside. ENDS
