IMPROVEMENTS AT LOCAL CHEMICAL MANUFACTURER BENEFIT CHARITIESEmployees at Runcorn chemical manufacturer INEOS Chlor are supporting charities whilst monitoring and improving safety at Runcorn Site. As part of a company recognition scheme that rewards employees for safe working, generous workers from the Upstream Manufacturing area have won £300, which they have chosen to donate to charity. To promote safety, the company has a system called 'Improvement Logs' whereby teams record their safety ideas and how they have put these into practice. The system ensures that everyone gets involved in delivering improvements and are able to share and recognize best practice. Use of this system was monitored between May - September and the teams that recorded the most number of improvements across 5 work areas involved received £20 per head as recognition. On receipt of their award, the staff in the Planned Task and Overhauls Group decided to donate it to charity. The £300 has been divided amongst 3 charities: Cancer Research UK, the Stroke Association at Halton Hospital and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Said Don Westwood, INEOS Chlor Quality and Training
Manager: "This is a win-win situation for all involved; the
company, our employees and the charities. It is key to the success
of our manufacturing operations to continually look for ways to
improve and our employees are key to this process. Its great that
our employees should choose to give their award to such worthy causes."
