LOCAL COMPANIES HELP JUNIOR FOOTBALL TEAM FIND ITS FEET

A host of local companies have teamed up to support Quayside Bandits Under 8's football team to establish them as an up and coming team of the future. The companies include INEOS Chlor, City Vending Ltd UK, Shearfab, the Quayside Pub, The Football Foundation, Halton Borough Council and Bold Display.

The companies have provided funds and assistance so that the Bandits can buy training equipment such as balls, bibs, goals and corner flags. They have even been lucky enough to buy a team football kit.

The Bandits are hoping to join the Halton District Junior League in the 2005/2006 season. In the meantime the kids are playing friendlies against teams currently in the league. More recently the budding footballers have enjoyed the role of ball boys for the town's Runcorn FC.

Says Lee O'Malley, team manager: "We are delighted with the support we have received so far from local companies and parents alike. This support means that we can provide the kids with the necessary equipment and kit to give them a good start at such an early stage in their footballing careers."

Adds Janet Ward, INEOS Chlor Community Relations Manager: "It's great to be able to work with other sponsors to provide the maximum benefit for the children who are just starting to pursue a sporting activity. The development of sporting skills in youngsters is a great way of developing their communication skills and fosters a teamwork ethos."
