INEOS CHLOR HELPS SENIOR CITIZENS TO LEARN NEW SKILLSLocal chemical manufacturer INEOS Chlor is supporting senior citizens of Halton to expand their skills by providing a £250 grant to fund some pottery classes. INEOS Chlor was approached by the Years Ahead Group to support them with their learning programme. The Years Ahead Group is a community organisation run by the over 50's, which provides opportunities for older people in Halton to take part in a wide range of arts activities lead by professional artists and is supported by Halton Borough Council's Arts Development Team. This group is important to its members as it provides the chance for those who are otherwise isolated in their homes to come together, learn new skills, make friends and enjoy themselves in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment. Janet Ward, INEOS Chlor's Community Relations Manager said: "We are delighted that we could help the Years Ahead Group by supporting their pottery class as it is essential that the older generation receives as much encouragement as the younger members of our community. Groups like this play an important part in helping senior citizens keep active and in touch with one another." Olwen Killington, spokesperson for the Years Ahead Group said: "We are extremely grateful to INEOS Chlor for supporting us by funding our Pottery class this term. These classes are very important to us and we would be lost without this group of friendly people all with the same approach to their subject." ENDS Note to Editors: Press photographers were invited to a launch event at 1pm on Wednesday 15th March at Ditton Community Centre. In attendance at the event were members of the group, organisers, funding partners and Halton's Mayor, Cllr Peter Lloyd-Jones.
