INEOS HELPS WILDLIFE VOLUNTEERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Birds' habitat has improved in Anderton Nature Park, Northwich after hardworking volunteers completed a major project at Haydn's pool thanks to support from INEOS Chlor.

Members of the Friends of Anderton & Marbury (FOAM) put in 150 volunteer hours working on the INEOS funded project to encourage more wading birds to nest on the site. Work included clearing willow & laying shingle on the pool's island. Trees & overgrown vegetation were also cut back to give visitors a bird's eye view of the pool.

Volunteer Frances Findlay said, " It is not just about improving the pool for the birds by providing a safer environment and greater variety of nesting but also improving the view from the bird hide and the viewing screen for visitors and bird watchers."

Additional support for the project was provided by Action Weaver Valley & Vale Royal Borough Council.

If you are interested in improving the environment locally & have a project in mind please contact Ann Bates, Action Weaver Valley on telephone 01606 79576 or email a.bates@merseybasin.org.uk. This project was funded as part of INEOS Chlor's continuing contribution to Action Weaver Valley.
