This information provides general details about our operations at Runcorn Docks and provides safety and emergency advice about what actions should be taken in the event of an emergency. INEOS ChlorVinyls loading facility at Runcorn Docks VCM from the Runcorn Site is shipped via the loading facility at Runcorn Docks to other INEOS plants. The loading facility is connected to the Runcorn Plant via a pipeline, which is routed underground through the Runcorn Docks Estate. The loading facility was designed and built in 1997 and incorporates a sophisticated safety and shutdown system. Physical properties of Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) VCM gas is:- - colourless - sweet smelling - heavier than air - highly flammable - capable of causing anaesthetic effects (for high exposure) - carcinogenic (for high exposures over long periods) Emergency instructions Emergency contact numbers In the event of an emergency at the INEOS ChlorVinyls loading facility at Runcorn Docks, there will be an audible warning siren from the ship/shore. For information, a 'warning' will be indicated by a single long blast of the siren. This warning will be sounded periodically throughout an emergency.
