In addition, as a company engaged in business activities on an international scale, INEOS ChlorVinyls has formulated its own ambitious environmental policy and introduced an Environmental Management System.

European Community Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) Reports
EMAS is a voluntary initiative designed to improve environmental performance. The Scheme receives strong support, both from government and environmental organisations, and allows those companies taking part to clearly demontrate their strong commitment to the environment and to improving their economic competitiveness.
The key aim of EMAS is 'to recognise organisations that go beyond minimum legal compliance and continuously improve their environmental performance'. Under EMAS companies produce regular environmental statements that provide the public with key information on their environmental performance. The EMAS Report is independently checked by an environmental verifier, which gives EMAS and those companies that take part in the Scheme with enhanced credibility and recognition.

Environmental Performance Reports - Runcorn Site, UK
Each
year INEOS ChlorVinyls publishes an Environmental
Performance Report for its principal UK operations at Runcorn Site.
These reports monitor the progress we have made against
our 'Towards 2010' targets, which set out our commitment
to safety, health and environmental performance for
the period 2001 - 2010.
