Landfill Communities Fund

INEOS ChlorVinyls is involved in the UK Government's Landfill Communities Fund (previously known as the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme).

Landfill Tax was introduced in the UK in 1996 to encourage companies to adopt a more environmentally sustainable method of waste management by reducing overall waste production, disposing of less waste to landfill and recovering more value from any waste produced.

The Landfill Communities Fund provides a way for environmental organisations to receive money from UK landfill operators to carry out environmental projects. The Fund allows these landfill operators to contribute up to 20% of their Landfill Tax towards such projects.

The Landfill Communities Fund is regulated by ENTRUST, an organisation appointed by HM Customs & Excise. ENTRUST manages environmental organisations who are then able to receive funding for projects under the Landfill Communities Fund. ENTRUST ensures that all projects meet strict requirements under the Scheme. ENTRUST also works to raise awareness of the lasting benefit of environmental improvements funded by the Scheme.

Over the past few years there have been many local projects that have benefited from funding under the INEOS ChlorVinyls Landfill Communities Fund.

INEOS ChlorVinyls is proud to be working in partnership with Cheshire Wildlife Trust, The Mersey Forest, Vale Royal Environment Network and the Weaver Valley Initiative to support environmental projects across the region.
